Farmhouse boundary wall with stone water feature, Cowling
North Yorkshire
In the picturesque village of Cowling, we completed this distinctive dry stone boundary wall for a traditional Yorkshire farmhouse. The project combines centuries-old walling techniques with an elegant integrated water feature that celebrates the region’s natural beauty.
Constructed using carefully selected local stone, the wall follows the natural topography of the farmland, creating a boundary that appears to have grown organically from the landscape itself. Each stone was thoughtfully positioned by hand, without mortar, ensuring the wall will flex with the seasons while maintaining its structural integrity for generations.
The centerpiece of this installation is the bespoke stone water feature, where water gently flows over strategically placed stones before collecting in a small stone basin. This element not only adds visual interest but also brings the soothing sound of running water to the farmhouse garden—echoing the streams and becks that wind through the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.
